The Industrial Ring Road including Bhumibol I and Bhumibol II Bridges is a new road link to improve access to Bangkok Port and the nearby industrial areas. The road includes two crossings of the Chao Phraya River. In the first phase of the project a feasibility study was carried out to determine the best solution for the river crossings. Options were bridges, bored tunnels or submerged tunnels.

The study concluded that the construction of two cable-stayed bridges was the best alternative. The second phase of the project included detailed design and tender documents for the two bridges with approaches. Construction started in 2002 and the project opened to traffic in September 2006.

NCE acted as lead consultant and provided Project Manager, Bridge Engineers, Traffic Planner, Foundation Engineer, Dynamic Expert, Computer Experts (CAD) and Contract Expert.
